Software Carpentry Workshop, 3 & 4 October

Software Carpentry's mission is to help scientists and engineers get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing. This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

The course is aimed at graduate students, faculty and other researchers. Although the focus is on academic applications, anyone who would like to learn more about automating data processing could benefit from this material and is welcome to attend. We will be teaching beginner-level material suitable for programming novices.

Please visit our workshop website for more information about the syllabus and the requirements, and email us at swc@za.pycon.org if you have any questions.
